3D laser micro-cutting is a high-precision manufacturing process that uses focused laser beams to cut complex, three-dimensional structures into materials—and, as with KMLT®, with micrometer-level precision. Unlike traditional 2D laser cutting, where the laser beam operates only in a single plane, the 3D process allows for the machining of curved, inclined, or three-dimensionally shaped surfaces. This typically involves the use of specially configured and modified short-pulse laser sources, as well as picosecond or femtosecond lasers with ultrashort laser pulses, which do not thermally deform the material but instead vaporize it directly through so-called cold ablation. The result—especially when using Ultra shortpulse lasers—is extremely fine cut edges without burr formation, without thermal damage, and with minimal material loss. This process is used in microelectronics, medical technology, optical manufacturing, and wherever the highest precision is required for the smallest components.

Our state-of-the-art laser systems are equipped with motorized rotary axes for precise three-dimensional material and bar processing. Among other things, this enables us to add apertures to the circumference of tube profiles as required and to cut them to length.
